Pindi to get 10 non-formal edu schools

RAWALPINDI – The Punjab government has approved an educational project with the name of “non-formal education schools” to increase the literacy rate in the province.
According to sources, initially 10 schools would be established in Rawalpindi district on priority basis and the number of schools would be increased to 144 till March throughout the province. In the schools, seven to 16-year-old girls and boys would be imparted education and training.
The sources said that on the directives of Punjab government, Department for Literacy and Non-Formal Basic Education started the work on the project on emergency basis to provide free education facility to the girls and boys of the rural areas. Female teachers would be given target to educate 25 to 30 children, while the teachers would be given stipend of Rs5,000.
Basic primary education of the children would be emphasised in the schools and the students would be educated to appear in primary examination in first three years.
