Islamabad - A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Inter-University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities Pakistan — Pakistan’s first ever autonomous inter-university alliance — and Awaz Foundation Pakistan: Centre for Development for undertaking collaborative activities for promotion of social sciences, arts & humanities.
Both organisations agreed to better serve the social science research and scholarly community in Pakistan through exchanging information and opinions on topics relevant to political, economic, social and international relations, regional and interregional development, improving the scientific, academic and research level of the institutes, focusing on improving the state of social sciences and humanities related disciplines in Pakistan by enhancing collaborative research and scholarship, strengthening of Pakistan Development Alliance (PDA) by linking it with different universities across Pakistan and undertaking joint research publications, seminars, conferences and other academic activities.
The MOU was signed by Dr Nasser Ali Khan, chairman Inter-University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, vice chancellor University of Haripur, and Mohammad Zia-ur-Rehman, chief executive Awaz.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr Nasser underlined the importance of close linkages among higher education institutions, civil society and policymakers to improve the state of social sciences and inculcating the values of tolerance, peace and responsible citizenship among Pakistani youth.
Dr Nasira Jabeen, chairperson Awaz, Dr Alwin Murad from GC University Lahore, and Turab Ali were also present on the occasion.
