ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has launched a vigorous drive against quacks and illegal medical practitioners in the rural areas of Islamabad on the special directions of the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada and Deputy Commissioner, Amer Ali Ahmed.
In this regard, Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat), Nouman Yousaf accompanied with District Health Officer Islamabad, Dr M Azhar and Drug Inspector Islamabad, Sardar Shabir Ahmed conducted surprise checking of private clinics and medical centers in Bhara Kahu on Friday and sealed three medical centers and clinics.
An official handout issued by local administration says that AC (Secretariat) sealed Seemi Medical Center, Al-Falaha Clinic and Robert Clinic under the PMDC Ordinance 1982 for running by the illegal medical practitioners.
One illegal laboratory namely Khalsa Laboratory was also closed down for running in contravention of the Drug Act 1976 and the PMDC Ordinance, 1982.
District Health Officer Islamabad, Dr M Azhar has said that a total of 19 private clinics and medical centers were checked, out of which three clinics being run by the illegal practitioners in contravention of the PMDC Ordinance 1982 were sealed and challaned on the spot. He said that samples of medicines seized were also sent to the laboratory for test. Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Nouman Yousaf has said through a press statement that drive launched against the quacks from Bhara Kua would continue to ensure stern action against the illegal medical practitioners and a team would also carry out inspection of private clinics in other rural areas very shortly.
Earlier, Chief Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner had directed the DHO Islamabad and Drug Inspector Islamabad to carry out checking of private clinics and medical centers.
to ensure strict implementation of Drug Act, 1976 and PMDC Ordinance 1982 and take stern action against the illegal medical practitioners.
