rawalpindi - A man who was languishing in Adiala Jail on judicial remand over the charges of selling drugs died yesterday, reliable sources told The Nation yesterday.
The jail administration handed over the dead body to heirs for burial, they said. The deceased was identified as Shakir Khan son of Gulzar Khan, a resident of Mubarak Lane of Adiala Road.
According to sources, police held Shakir on charges of carrying narcotics and registered a case against him under section 9C/CNSA. They said that police produced him before a court and judge sent the accused on judicial remand to Adiala Jail where he died.
An official of Adiala Jail, when contacted, confirmed the development saying the accused died of sickness and the dead body was handed over to the heirs for burial.
