Students paint ideas for healthy heart

Islamabad - More than thirty students from different schools participated in a special art camp organised by Shifa International Hospital (SIH) on Thursday to spread a strong message of healthy heart through paintings. The competition was organised in connection to a special campaign aimed at promoting health awareness with special focus on heart diseases.
Leading Art Curator and Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and Design, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Farrah Adnan was the judge as well as the chief guest of the competition. Chief Executive Officer SIH Dr Manzoor H. Qazi and Director Strategic Planning Mahmood Mirza were also present on the occasion.
Students from Lahore Grammar School (LGS), GSIS, Tameer-e-Millat Foundation Schools, and Roots International School participated in the contest. They used canvas and oil colours for paintings. The main theme of the paintings was to highlight a message on adopting preventive and active lifestyle to avoid heart diseases. Kashmala Khalid, a student from LGS, won first prize for her painting of twin kids connected with one heart. Her painting on canvas left the judge and participants mesmerised as it gave a very strong message on the crucial role of human heart and how it was important to take care of it. Second prize went to Fatima Asad from Roots while Arfa Shan from GSIS got third position in the contest. Musa Ahmad from Roots and Gulsher Khan from GSIS were awarded with consolation prizes for fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Dr Qazi, Farrah Adnan and Mahmood Mirza gave cash prizes, shields and participation certificates to the winners and participants. They appreciated the efforts of young painters and said that all of them were quite clear in their ideas and represented them in creative way. Dr Qazi specially emphasised on the need to spread message for preventive and healthy living among students and families so that we could form a healthy society. He later presented a souvenir to Farrah Adnan. All paintings would be displayed in the cardiology departments of Shifa International Hospital and its branches to spread the message to visiting people with heart diseases.
