Appeal against death sentence rejected

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the second review petition of death row inmate for killing two pilgrims, who were going to Iran through Quetta. A two-member bench headed by Asif Saeed Khan Khosa hearing the review petition of Ali Gul rejected the clemency appeal. The bench declared that the appeal against death sentence could not be heard again.
The petitioner's counsel argued that his client has reached an agreement with the families of the killed pilgrims. However, the bench said that an act of terror could not be subdued by an agreement, according to the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The Quetta ATC had sentenced the criminal to death in 2004 and he would be hanged on April 18.
