4 held on drug charges

Rawalpindi - The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Royal Malaysian police on information provided by intelligence wing of anti-narcotics force (ANF) conducted an operation in Kuala Lumpur and recovered 55-kg heroin and handcuffed 6 smugglers. Similarly, ANF during operation against drug mafia seized huge quantity of narcotics and arrested 4 persons in connection with smuggling, informed ANF spokesman here on Tuesday. According to him, the DEA and Malaysian authorities carried out a joint operation at Kuala Lumpur on information provided by ANF intelligence wing and recovered 55-kg heroin and arrested 6 persons.
The heroin was concealed in wooden furniture stocked at a godown.
In Pakistan, he added, ANF carried out four operations in different localities and recovered huge quantity of narcotics besides nabbing 4 smugglers.
The drugs recovered by ANF included 5-kg hashish, 360 grams heroin and 600 grams opium during operations conducted at Rawalpindi, Gilgit, Sheikhupura and Karachi, he said.
Most of the recovered drugs were being smuggled for local consumption.
Sharing further details, he said that ANF Rawalpindi acted upon a tip-off and recovered 100 grams hashish from an accused Muhammad Ramzan, resident of Chiniot.
