ISLAMABAD - A new polio case appeared from Khyber Agency on Saturday that increased the total number of cases in the year 2014 to 297.
The new case appeared from tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency. So far 175 cases have appeared from Federally Administered Tribal Areas, 67 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 29 Sindh, 23 from Baluchistan and 3 from Punjab in the year 2014.
According to officials, if samples taken in 2014 continue to appear positive, Pakistan may cross the mark of 300 and it will be for the first time that Pakistan may cross this number after 1998. Pakistan had reported 353 polio cases in 1998.
