Eunuch arrested on extortion charges

Rawalpindi - Police have arrested a person on the charges of demanding extortion money from a jeweller on phone, sources informed The Nation on Monday.
Police recovered mobile phone and SIMs from the possession of the accused and registered a case against him, sources said, adding that, however, police did not reveal the name of the extortionist. The extortionist was nabbed on the complaint of a jeweller Kashif, who runs his shop on Adyala Road. Kahsif had alleged that he was being forced on phone to pay Rs 400,000 to the accused.
Talking to The Nation, Station House Officer Police Station Saddar Bairooni, Raja Rashid, confirmed the arrest of the extortionist. He said that the extortionist was eunuch and had been involved in demanding extortion money from jewellers on phone. Police arrested him through his mobile phone data, he said and added that earlier eunuch was arrested by New Town police in an extortion case and was sent to Adyala Jail. He, however, refused to tell the name of accused saying: “We are probing into the matter and trying to arrest other accomplices of the accused.”
Responding to a query, the SHO said that the eunuch could not get extortion money from the jeweller as the victim had lodged a complaint with police immediately.
