NAB set to establish forensic lab

ISLAMABAD - To meet the longstanding needs of the department, Chairman National Accountability Bureau Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has decided to establish a NAB forensic laboratory to cater to the needs of the department.
Sources in the department informed on Wednesday that the move was primarily aimed at improving the functioning of the department by having its own forensic lab to meet the ever-increasing challenges facing the department in its activities to curb the menace of corruption.
The sources said that for reaching the benchmark of excellence, the NAB in collaboration with the Australian Federal Police is in the process of establishing a forensic lab to identify the crimes to be investigated effectively and efficiently and achieve a better conviction rate.
The sources further informed that the laboratory would not only cater to the needs of the Bureau but it would also provide the facilities to other investigation agencies including FIA and other departments.
The Chairman NAB wanted to establish a state-of-the-art forensic laboratory, which would definitely be meeting the international standards.
With the help of properly functioning Forensic Lab, Investigation Officers investigating different high profile corruption cases will be able to produce better and quick results for the Bureau.
