Verdict against contempt law lays foundation of confrontation between two state institutions: Faisal Abidi

PPP Senator and former Advisor to President Asif Ali Zardari Faisal Raza Abidi has said the annulment of the contempt of court law has laid  a basis for confrontation between two major pillars of the state. Addressing a press conference here at the PPP Secretariat on Sunday Faisal Raza Abidi said that during the last three and a half years  all the cases relating to anti government petitions were being heard. He said all the cases against the opposition are being given stay orders while those against the government are being heard. He said 922 terrorists who were involved in attack on the armed forces have been released by the courts and thus put the security and stability of the country at risk.  He said as the supreme court is hearing the political cases the back log of other cases has increased from 21 lakh to 23,44,345. The PPP Senator said as member of the Parliament, he was feeling hurt with the annulment of contempt of court law. He said by the verdict on the contempt of court law, a ground has been laid for confrontations of the state. Faisal Raza Abidi said that he would bring two bills in the Senate for prosecution and restoration of 110 PCO judges. He said if the judges who earlier took oath under PCO could be restored, then these judges could also be restored. He also announced to lead a movement for the removal of all PCO judges. To a question, Faisal Raza Abidi said he was holding press conference in his personal capacity and has nothing to do with the PPP.
