Modern FIR room set up at Banni Police Station

RAWALPINDI - Modern First Information Report (FIR) room has been established at Police Station Banni with an aim to construct a new credence and confidence in police by providing professional, pragmatic and public friendly complaint lodging service in facilitative, assuring and amenable environment. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani and City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal inaugurated the First Information Report (FIR) room in a ceremony held at Police Station Banni on Tuesday. Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) MNA Haji Pervaz Khan, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdadullah Bosal, Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) Rawalpindi President Sardar Asmatuallh, renowned philanthropist Billa Ghani, many police officials and a large number of citizens attended the function. Highlighting the concept of modern reporting room, RPO Nasir Khan Durrani said that this FIR room was being established to improve the image of police in the masses. He remarked that police was unpopular among the people and its main reason was the behaviour of police department. "Basic aim behind these FIR rooms is to make the people believe that they are important and they matter for us," he said. He told that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif had directed to set up those types of FIR rooms in all the police stations of the city. He informed that those reporting rooms had been established to facilitate citizens specially complainants coming to get register their complaints. "Well-educated and trained officers will be available in this FIR room to facilitate the citizens and aggrieved people for getting help of the law and getting redressed their complaints," he maintained. He further told that such FIR rooms would be soon inaugurated in police stations Civil Line, Westridge and New Town to expand the facility at a larger level. Addressing the gathering, CPO Rao Muhammad Iqbal said those reporting rooms would be introduced in police stations of city areas as well as in rural areas. Earlier, MNA Haji Pervaz, DCO Imdadullah Bosal, LHCBA president Sardar Asmattullah , SSP Traffic Raja Riffat also addressed the audience and appreciated the initiatives taken by the police to resolve the problems of people. They also gave many suggestions to improve and expand the facility for the betterment of the masses.
