RAWALPINDI - On the directives of the Punjab government, Rawalpindi police have tightened the watch on the persons included in fourth schedule list in the backdrop of Muharram and the prevailing law and order situation of the country.According to sources, the provincial government issued special directives to the police to further boast the security arrangements for the processions and congregations in the city in connection with the upcoming month of Moharam-ul-Haram. The orders were issued in a meeting chaired by IG Punjab Police the other day.The sources told INP that transfers of the police officials in all the districts of the provinces have been barred to put all the energies of the cops in the security arrangements and finalization of the security plan has also been ordered. The police have also been directed to keep a check on the distribution of literature regarding extremism and the religious scholars involved in provoking sectarian activities.Meanwhile, the police have been directed to gear up the watch on 188 persons included in the forth schedule list. The persons either belong to banned militant organizations or were involved in the crimes of heinous nature. The highest number of the dangerous person i.e. 95 persons, are residing in Pothohar division, among three police divisions of the district Rawalpindi, while 17 persons included in forth schedule list are living on Rawal division. Rest of the 76 persons are living in Saddar division.Police arrest 19 lawbreakersRawalpindi Police in its ongoing drive against anti-social elements have arrested 19 accused for their alleged involvement in carrying illegal weapons, drugs, fireworks items and liquor from different localities.Police during crackdowns also apprehended three suspected dacoits and four gamblers. Police recovered 5465 grams charras, 80 bottles of liquor, one pistol 32 bore with four rounds, one revolver 32 bore with five rounds and fireworks items from the possession of the accused.Taxila police sent behind the bars an accused namely Sulman on recovery of 2000 grams charras. Another accused Jahan Afsar was held with 1100 grams charras while Ijaz was nabbed with 110 grams charras.Gunj Mandi Police netted Adil on recovery of 53 bottles of liquor while Ratta Amral Police apprehended Khalid with 25 bottles of liquor. Other accused held with illegal weapons, drugs and fireworks items.Gujar Khan police acting on a tip-off raided in ‘Chanka Bankial’ area and arrested three suspected dacoits identified as Sajjad, Naveed and Aqeel who were allegedly hiding there with an intention of robbery.Police recovered one pistol 30 bore with four rounds, one rifle 7mm with four rounds and one carbeen with two rounds.In another operation, Race Course police on information conducted raid in Dhoke Banaras area and apprehended four gamblers namely Anwar, Qasir, Asad and Asif and recovered cash stake money Rs 25000, four mobile phones, one Honda car, two motorcycles, two TV sets, two computers and one printer.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
