Rawalpindi - The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) seized huge quantity of narcotics during actions against drug mafia, including a mega consignment of Hashish weighing 2.96ton.
“The ANF also held 5 smugglers during operation,” informed ANF Headquarters spokesman Sami Ullah Khan here yesterday.
According to him, ANF seized huge amount of narcotics weighing 2.97ton while carrying out 4 operations at Rawalpindi, Lahore and Qilla Abdullah. The value of seized drugs was Rs7.21 billion approximately in international market. The seized drugs included 2.96 ton Charas and 16.6kg heroin, he said.
He added that ANF Quetta on pursuance of an intelligence report raided a desolate site in general area of Killi Chori, Maizai Adda, Tehsil, District Qilla Abdullah and seized 2956 kg Charas (Garda).
The drug consignment was concealed at an uninhabited location situated in the cuttings of mountainous terrain far away from the populated area.
Charas was stuffed in plastic bags. As per initial reports, the drug consignment was placed at a cache site for handing over to another narcotics group.
On receipt of safe signal, it was to be shifted to some safe location for onward smuggling abroad, he said. ANF teams during action in Kohinoor Mills and at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore also held two smugglers and recovered 600 grams and 16kg heroin respectively. Cases were registered against all the smugglers while further investigation was underway, he informed.
