RAWALPINDI - The Anti-Narcotics Court on Friday initiated the process to declare the two accused as Proclaimed Offenders (POs) in ephedrine quota case as after they could not be arrested by the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF).
Control of Narcotics Substance Court (CNSC) Special Judge Arshad Mehmood Tabbasum directed his process server to advertise in national and international media that former Secretary Health Khushnod Khan Lashari and Anjum Shah, the alleged man of Makhdoom Shihabuddin, wanted in the illegal allotment of ephedrine quota case.
The court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants of the two accused on March 22, 2013.
Similarly, the court accepted the plea of Makhdoom Shihabuddin of granting him exemption till April 19, 2013 from appearing before the court due to his election campaign.
Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, the counsel of the petitioner, filed the application in which he requested the court to give exemption to his client as he was busy in electioneering campaign in his constituency. On this, the Special Judge accepted the application.
On the other hand, ANF prosecutor could not provide the attested copies of the final chellan to the accused in Ephedrine case. The court had directed the ANF on last hearing to furnish complete evidence against the accused in Ephedrine quota allotment case till April 5, 2013.
The court was to distribute the copies of charge sheets among the 11 accused men in the chemical quota allotment case but the counsel of four accused raised objection saying the detailed prosecution evidences was not being delivered.
However, the court gave away the copies of documents related to seizure of properties of the accused to 11 men accused in illegal allotment of huge Ephedrine quota.
Later, the proceeding was deferred till April 10, 2013.
During the proceeding, the accused Syed Ali Musa Gilani, Col (retd) Tahir Hoti, Iftikhar Babar, Abdul Sittar Surani, Sheikh Ansaar, Ansar Farooq Chaudhry, Abdul Khaliq and former Director Health Dr Asad Hafeez were present in courtroom.
