Babu eclipses Punjab's good governance claims

RAWALPINDI - Earning a bad name for Punjab Government in terms of good governance, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdad Ullah Bosal humiliates visitors who come there hoping to find solutions to their problems relating to the City District Government departments by forcing them to sit and wait outside office for many hours. These visitors mostly come from far-flung areas of the district including Gujar Khan, Mandra, Rawat, Taxila and Murree for the solution of their problems to the DCOs office but unfortunately Imdad Ullah Bosal does not bother to spare a few minutes to see these helpless visitors, TheNation learnt here on Tuesday. A number of applicants and affected people with gloomy faces could be witnessed during the entire day outside the office of the DCO waiting for his sporadic arrival to lodge their complaints before him. An old man, Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Adyala Road, told this scribe with a visibly-tense face that he has been visiting DCO office for long for lodging complaint with him but has not succeeded in meeting DCO Imdad Ullah Bosal so far. He said that DCO often remained absent from his office or engaged in meetings. He said that it seemed that DCO had decided to do some other important things instead of listening to maladies of the general public. He informed that some powerful land grabbers had occupied Punjab governments land in Junejo Colony and he (Mushtaq) had come here to get DCOs help in freeing this land from the occupiers. Mushtaq appealed to Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the negligence of Imdad Ullah Bosal. An old lady, resident of Tench Bhatta and not willing to disclose her name, said that she has been visiting DCO Office for the last three months to inform him about the problem being faced by her but failed to see his face. She said that there is no leader in any political party to assist the poor and destitute segments of the society. Jehanzeb, Secretary General of Citizen Community Board of UC Lakhan, while holding documents in his hand, told TheNation that his board built a funeral ground in his area by spending Rs 1.5 million and has been waiting for final assessment from the District Government for the last two years. He said that District Officer Building department is not visiting the place for final approval despite several requests. Now I come here at DCO office to request him to ask DO Buildings to go to the place but he (DCO) is not present in his office he added. Maqsoon Yasin, resident of Dhoke Ali Akbar, said that her daughter Najma Yasin applied for the post of teacher in Punjab Education Department (PED) and succeeded in interview taken for the post of Arabic teacher. But later, PED did not put her name in final list and I am here to tell DCO Imdad Ullah Bosal about this injustice. This was my fifth visit to DCO office but every time I had to go home without seeing him. I cant afford to come here daily, she lamented. DCO Imdad Ullah Bosal, despite several attempts made by this scribe, was not available for comments.
