President, PM laud outgoing ISI chief’s services

islamabad - Outgoing Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam, called on President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.
During the meeting with Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House, the premier praised Zaheerul Islam’s efforts and services in relation to counterterrorism and national security.
The outgoing spy chief, who retires from his post on November 7 (tomorrow), also apprised the premier of professional matters relating to the ISI. Sharif wished him good luck in future.
During the meeting, sources said, the PM lauded professional services of the DG ISI.
In the meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president commended the services rendered by the outgoing DG ISI for defence of the country and for strengthening the intelligence apparatus.
The president wished the outgoing DG ISI good health, success and happiness in his future life.
Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar, who was named as the new ISI director general, will be taking charge of the position upon Zaheer’s retirement.
