AIOU to expand network in remote areas: VC

islamabad - Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will expand its educational facilities to remote and deprived areas of Balochistan to facilitate the people living in the far-flung parts of this province.
The move will provide equal access to quality education to the people of the province. The university will strengthen the network of its regional campuses and centres throughout the province. This is a part of AIOU’s ongoing efforts for expanding its infrastructure network providing quality education at the nearest place of the students.
This was stated by the Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui during his meeting with the Balochistan Provincial Minister for Education Sardar Raza Muhammad Barrech. The Vice Chancellor informed the Minister that the University has adopted latest information technologies to reach its millions of students living in the whole country.
The Minister assured every possible cooperation of the provincial government with the University to achieve the goals of spreading education.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui had a detailed meeting with the vice-chancellors of the all four universities of Balochistan and exchanged possibilities and opportunities for collaboration for disseminating basic and higher education in the province. These included Dr Javed Iqbal, VC University of Baluchistan, Dr Rukhsana Jabeen, VC Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University Quetta, Dr Farooq Bazai, VC BUITMS, and Dr Abdullah Khan, VC University of Loralai. All the vice-chancellors appreciated the efforts of the AIOU in eliminating the clouds of ignorance and spreading the light of knowledge and awareness in the province.
They extended their commitment to help and facilitate the AIOU in its activities regarding research and teaching in Balochistan.
Dr Shahid Siddiqui expressed his gratitude to the vice-chancellors of for their commitment of cooperation and collaboration. The vice-chancellor also visited the Open Day activities of the AIOU held in a local college in Quetta.
The vice-chancellor earlier held meetings with the AIOU’s assistant regional directors of Zhob, Dera Murad Jamali, Gwadar and Qalat as well as regional director Quetta and discussed possibilities of expanding the AIOU horizon to facilitate the students of Balochistan.
