Six workers fired for staging protest

Rawalpindi - As many as five workers of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have been terminated by the management for staging a protest and blocking roads against cut in their salaries, sources informed on Monday.
   The DHA Rawalpindi-Islamabad management has handed over the termination letters to the five workers who were identified as Sardar Waqar Ahmed, Muhammad Asim Ali Bhatti, Azizur Rehman, Muhammad Jalil and Muhammad Irfan, sources added.
They said that the management was annoyed over the workers who staged a protest demonstration and blocked roads on April 2 at DHA-1 against slash in their salaries.
Sources said that the management would terminate more workers in upcoming days.Earlier, the DHA management got a case registered against 18 workers with police station Morgah. Six workers were arrested by police and a local court sent them to jail. However, all six workers were released on bail later.
