Photos displayed to highlight Hiroshima, Nagasaki bombing

ISLAMABAD (APP)- To commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the 2nd World War, a day-long photographic exhibition was put on display here Thursday with the images of the mass destruction. Around 120 black and white and colored photos were the part of event based on the theme of 'Support a World without Nuclear Weapons. These pictures highlighted the Hiroshima and Nagasaki terrible occurrence with the objective of recalling the history and learn from it while the activity was planned to mobilize and realize the people that nuclear bombs are for destruction not for peace. Senator Dr. Saeeda Iqbal inaugurated the event which was organized by Global Peace Pioneers (GPP), an indigenous organization established with an aim to make globe a symbol of peace. It is also working in the country to train the coming generations for a better world future. The event was an effort to denounce all kind of Nuclear weapons which is the cause of much destruction and loss of life in the world and also to show firm solidarity with the Japanese people on this day of pain and national grief. The photos show the Radiation aftereffects, societal destruction, calls for peace and the devastation that caused 14,000 deaths in Hiroshima and 70,000 in Nagasaki. The aim of these pictures was to highlight the need for greater understanding and co-existence between the different nations of the world and spread the message of harmony in a peaceful manner. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson GPP, Hina Iqbal shared the profound empathy and full support to the Japanese and stressed the need for a better cooperation and dialogue between the nations to help build better relationships among different cultures and religions across the globe and avoid confrontations and conflicts that result in such unspeakable misery. A nations hope of lasting peace cannot be firmly based upon any race in nuclear armaments but rather upon just relations and honest understanding
