CDA to make capital a city of flowers, claims Kazmi

Islamabad - Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Environment, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, said on Friday that civic body was focusing its attention to make Islamabad a city of flowers and laid multi-coloured flowerbeds on medians and roadsides.
Talking to APP he said the civic body would complete the ongoing beautification project at Zero Point Interchange (ZPI) and Rose and Jasmine Garden by February 15. Kazmi said the authority would add special features to the ZPI Project by landscaping isolated areas. He said that landscaping for beautification of Zero Point Interchange will be completed by February 15. He further informed that intermediary spring is on and CDA is currently planting three varieties of marigolds. He said that Rs 300,000 has been allocated for beautification work at Zero Point project.
“The amount would be used for levelling earth, flower decoration, construction, supplying and dibbling of grass at the Interchange,” he added. He said that flowery plants, evergreen trees, seasonal fruit trees and grass should be planted at the avenue while the existing grass would be properly trimmed. Kazmi said that CDA would utilize all available resources and expertise in making the city more beautiful and attractive. It is committed to providing an improved healthy and clean environment by planting more trees and flowers, he said.
 Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to carry out development work in sector I-12 and it has awarded contract for construction of 7 major roads in the sector.
The contract has been awarded to Zafar and Co in open tender for making the offer less by 27 percent than the estimated cost of construction. These roads are 9 kilometers long and will be constructed at cost of Rs 248 million within 9 months. These roads will provide access to sector I-12 Markaz and CDA will be able to sell out plots located in Markaz.
The allottees have welcomed the decision for construction of major roads of the sector and have demanded that service roads be also constructed and the entire infrastructure be developed fully.
