Rawalpindi - Police on Monday unveiled a comprehensive security plan to shield the processions and gatherings to be held in connection with Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA) in the city. According to police spokesman, police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan following the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi to protect the gatherings and processions of Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA) on July 7-8. He said that according to security plan, as many as 3,000 police officers and officials including ladies police would perform duty to guard the processions.
The police force would also be assisted by Muhafiz Squad, Elite Force, officials of Special Branch, PQR and reserved force, he added.
He said that three-layer security cover would be provided to the participants of processions and all the streets and roads leading towards procession route would also be sealed. Well equipped cops would also be deputed on the rooftops while people would not be allowed to stand on rooftops, he said adding that the routes of processions would be scanned by the bomb disposal squad and participants would also be frisked through walkthrough gates and metal detectors. He said that entry of motorcycles and vehicles would also be banned in the processions. Police have erected pickets at all the entry and exit points of the city and all the suspicious vehicles were being checked, he said.
