ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the present government accords high priority to the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and all-out steps are being taken for the welfare and uplift of the people of Azad Kashmir.
The President said this during his meeting with a delegation of elected members of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
The delegation included among others  Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan/ Minister Incharge, AJ&K Council, Sardar Muhammad Naeem Khan, Sardar Muhammad Saghir Khan, Ch. Muhammad Mehboob, Engr. Rafaqat Hussain Awan and Raja Babar Ali Zulqarnain.
The President urged for early completion of the various ongoing developmental projects in AJK and assured that Government would provide all possible assistance to the AJK Government in completion of developmental projects and in its effort to bring about qualitative change in the lives of the people of Kashmir.
Reaffirming Pakistan's strong support to the cause of the Kashmiri people, the President said that Pakistan remains committed to finding a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. The President said that present government has already announced zero-tolerance for the corruption in the country and emphasized the need for ensuring complete transparency and accountability in execution of all projects so as to foster good governance in AJ&K.  The delegation thanked the President for meeting and appreciated the keen interest of the President in development of AJK and uplift and betterment of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
PPP files 2 call attention notices in NA: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Tuesday submitted two call-attention notices in the National Assembly Secretariat about poor facilities of immunization vaccinations and swelling of debt burden in last nine months. "According to Pakistan Pediatric Association, 53 percent of children do not receive vaccinations offered in the country under the Expanded Programme for Immunization," said a call-attention notice submitted by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Shazia Atta Marri, and others. It further says due to such poor state of affairs, some 80,000 children die in our country each year. The second calling attention is regarding the mounting debt burden on nation.
"We would like to invite the attention of the minister concerned towards the burgeoning debt burden which has swelled alarmingly in 9 months i.e.; from Rs 14 trillion in 2013 to Rs 15.293 trillion in 2014," said a call-attention notice submitted by PPP lawmakers Syed Naveed Qamar, Shazia Atta Marri, and others.
