RAWALPINDI - Two unknown motorcycle riders gunned down an old man outside Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) Customer Services Office, near Mall Square, the area of Police Station (PS) RA Bazaar here on Tuesday.
The deceased identified as Ghulam Muhammad son of Nur Muhammad, 65, hailed from Tehsil Jhand, Attock. The rescuers and police moved the dead body to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) for postmortem and later placed at morgue.
Police also found 100 Riyals, Rs 24,000 cash and prize bonds worth Rs 200,000 from the pockets of the dead man.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) PS RA Bazaar Arif Gondal, the old man was going towards Chungi Number 22 when two motorcyclists intercepted him and opened fire because of which the old man died on the spot. After committing the crime, the assailants managed to escape from the scene, he added. He said that some eyewitnesses told police that the old man made noise after seeing the two bike riders on which the assailants shot him dead and ran away.
The SHO informed that dead body was placed in DHQ morgue while the heirs have also been told about the incident. Police would register a case after arrival of heirs, he added.
