ISLAMABAD - The religio-political parties, which have still not reached on any consensus to regain its strength by restoring Muttahida Majlis-e-Amla (MMA), have divergence of opinion on the impact of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) peace march to South Waziristan.
Some members of a splinter group remarked that the march of Imran Khan to stop drone strikes would hardly bear any fruit in future, whereas some other viewed that it would put pressure on USA about Pakistan’s sovereignty.
“People living in North Waziristan are facing incidents of drone attacks in their areas but Imran Khan is marching towards South Waziristan,” said Jamiat-Ulema Islam (Fazl) spokesman talking to TheNation.
The participants from abroad in this march should also dare raise voice in their own country. “In his convoy people from America and other countries are protesting in Pakistan against drone attack, why they are hesitant to raise this voice in their own country where this heinous activity is operated,” JUI-F leader said, adding that Pakistani Parliament has already passed a resolution against drone attack.
Imran Khan has arranged this march just to gain popularity in masses, as this exercise will be fruitless at the end. PTI Chief Imran Khan should not play double game with masses, he maintained.
Whereas, a strong pillar of religio-political parties, Jammat-e-Islami (JI) lauded the Imran’s step against drone attacks in terms that it will ultimately put pressure on concerned authorities.
“This march will put pressure on concerned authorities and people living in affected areas will feel strength and solidarity,” said JI leader Fareed Paracha talking to TheNation.
The JI leader informed that members of Jamaat-e-Islami(JI) might also participate in march from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has also staged sit-in against drone strikes in Pakistani territory. Commenting on JUI-F’s remarks against the PTI’s March, he said that this kind of remarks prove harmful real cause.
Having altogether different opinion, Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) Chief Sahibzada Abu Alkhair Muhammad Zubair said that there was a need to make some strategy to resolve this important matter. “Mere long march will not serve real purpose,” JUP chief said adding that politician should take this matter seriously without indulging into political gimmick.
When contacted, Tehreek-e-Islami (TI) chief Allama Sajid Naqvi said that it was democratic right of PTI to organise march. About impact of PTI’s march, he said this march could be successful if large number of masses will participate in it. He further said that it could create ground to serve real cause.
It is relevant to mention here that a convoy of large number of large number of people under leadership of PTI chief Imran Khan is heading to South Waziristan in protest against drone attacks.
