RAWALPINDI - Health Department, Rawalpindi had constituted 1288 mobile teams to administer polio drops to 5,600780 under five year age kids in the district while 254 special polio centers had also been established at basic health out lets in the district. Mobile teams would pay door-to-door visit to administer polio vaccine drops to the targeted children. Similarly, arrangements had also been made at vehicle stands, railway stations, parks and other such places for polio vaccination of children traveling with their parents. The four-day polio drive would be held from April 13, 2009. This was revealed by the Acting District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Asif Qureshi while presiding a meeting on Tuesday to review the arrangements of anti- polio campaign. EDO Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal, DO Health Dr Khalid Randhawa, DMS Benazir Bhuttoo Hospital Dr Najeeb Pasha also attended the meeting. Asif Qureshi said that it was our national and moral obligation to supplements all out efforts being made to whip out polio. from the face of earth and parents should give top priority to administer polio drops to their children up to age of five years. Various aspects of polio eradiation plan were discussed on the occasion, EDO Health Dr Zafar briefed about the arrangements made with the help of allied departments for coverage of all rural and urban areas. He said that 83 mobile teams would administer polio drops at focal public points of Rawalpindi and volunteers of different NGOs, teachers, girl guides, boy scouts and Para medical staff would actively take part to make the polio drive a real success.
