Islamabad - Ramna police have busted an inter-provincial gang involved in snatching vehicles at gunpoint, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. According to details, IGP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan directed all police officials to ensure effective measures to curb crime, especially car lifting and snatching incidents. Following his directions, SP (Saddar) Syed Muhammad Bilal constituted special team under the supervision of ASP Ramana Arsala Saleem which included SHO Ramana Police station Inspector Rukhsar Mehdi, ASI Muhammad Iqbal and others. This team succeeded to arrest four gangsters of an inter-provincial gang involved in snatching vehicles at gunpoint who have been identified as Waqas Aslam, Rustam, Waqas and constable of Punjab Police Lahore Tufail. Police have obtained physical remand of these accused from the concerned court and further investigation is underway. They confessed to having snatched vehicles at gun point and sell them in Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda.
During the preliminary investigation, they admitted snatching car from a driver at Kashmir Highway Islamabad on December 18, 2014 after hiring it from Murree and committing similar dacoities at Kalar Kahar, Taxila and Sabzi Mandi area Islamabad. Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested 43 suspects during a search operation conducted in various areas of the city.
Police teams conducted search in the areas of Bhara Kahu, Golra and Shahzad Town. They succeeded to nab 43 suspects who are being investigated further.
