ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office Thursday and directed early evacuation of Pakistani nationals in various cities of Libya, including Tripoli and Tunis.
The meeting also reviewed the efforts being made by relevant quarters for the repatriation of Pakistani nationals stranded in Libya.
The security situation in Libya has deteriorated and warranted immediate action to repatriate all Pakistani nationals awaiting evacuation.
The prime minister directed that special chartered flights to be engaged on top priority for the evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Libya.
The prime minister further directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all concerned agencies to take all necessary actions for the safe and swift repatriation of the stranded Pakistanis.
He noted with appreciation the efforts made by Pakistan’s Missions in Tripoli and Tunis for the evacuation of around 2,500 Pakistani nationals from Libya.
Around 3500 Pakistanis are to be evacuated with immediate effect. The Embassy of Pakistan in Libya is making hectic efforts to repatriate Pakistan nationals in Libya at the earliest.
