Sherry nominated as VP after consultation: Fahim

ISLAMABAD - President of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said that appointments in the party are made by broad-based consultations, so it is wrong to say that he was not consulted on the nomination of Sherry Rehman as vice-president of the party.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim further said, “As the need for a woman vice president of the party had been felt for a long time, informal consultations were held at various levels from time to time for the appointment of a woman vice president. The consultative process led to the nomination of Sherry Rehman as vice president.”
“When finally the notification was issued in accordance with the laid down procedure, I was travelling and it escaped my attention,” he explained his position on his reaction to the appointment.
“As President of the PPPP I am and have been, as it should be, part of the consultative process in making nominations to posts, including that of vice president, in the party,” he concluded.
