ISLAMABAD – Chairman Capital Development, Farkhand Iqbal on Saturday approved the sinking of a tube-well at I-8 Markaz to help resolve water scarcity issue in the area.
Addressing the traders of the area, he said a survey to pinpoint a suitable place for sinking the tube well in the area would be started from Monday. He also ordered doubling the Kachnar Park Road situated parallel to Islamabad Highway in sector I-8/3.
He said he has devised a two-pronged strategy to beautify capital city. 134 Tube wells of the capital would be shifted on solar technology for addressing the water scarcity issue. A three years project to fetch 200 million gallon water from Tarbela dam would be started in September to address the water scarcity issue on permanent basis.
A crack down against encroachments has already been initiated. Notices have also been issued to Serena, Marriott hotels to voluntarily exterminate the encroachments in the name of security, he said. He said Capital Development Authority (CDA) would soon establish paid car parking in various trading centres to help streamline traffic and avoid congestion. The chairman visited the I-8 Markaz and expressed displeasure over the cleanliness situation in the sector. Earlier, President Traders Association, Yasir Abbasi welcomed the chairman in the area. He highlighted the problems being confronted by the traders of the area.
