Deceased judge's guard remanded

ISLAMABAD - Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad Friday remanded a constable into physical custody of police for three days for allegedly killing an additional district and sessions judge.
ATC Judge Atiq-ur-Rehman sent the accused security guard Babar Hussain on three days physical remand after police sought his seven days physical custody to further probe the matter.
An official of Margalla police station produced the accused before the judge and requested the court to grant physical remand of the accused for seven days since police needed his custody for further investigations. However, the court granted police three days physical remand of Babar and directed the police to produce him before the court on March 10.
During the hearing, the accused rejected the allegations levelled against him. With tears rolling on his face, Babar said, "I am innocent and I am being implicated."
Babar informed the court that he requested the judge to leave the courtroom from the backdoor and presented himself to sacrifice his life to save Rafaqat Awan but he refused to do so. "The judge was martyred after gunshot fired by the terrorists hit him which caused his death," maintained the accused. He further told that he did fire but on the terrorists instead of the judge.
Meanwhile, the same court deferred the hearing of judges' detention case against former President Pervez Musharraf without any proceedings due to strike of the lawyers. After adjourning the proceedings, the judge fixed March 21 as the next date of hearing of the case.
