Govt committed to accomplish intl obligations on human rights: Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that the government would accomplish its international obligations to protect and promote human rights. We have recently ratified the Convention Against Torture (CAT) and the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and will undertake practical steps for the implementation of both the Conventions, he said addressing a gathering to celebrate the International Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10. The President said the PPP led government would continue upholding basic human rights of all individuals regardless of caste, creed or any other consideration. We will stand committed for the promotion of all fundamental freedoms and rights guaranteed in the Constitution of Pakistan and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
