ISLAMABAD - It is likely that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) would be purged of the deputationists having political backing, as interior ministry has directed the acting Director General (DG) of the agency to prepare a list of such officers having bad reputation and then repatriate them to their parent departments. The previous PPP regime had packed the country’s key investigation agency with a number of officers of other departments on deputation and the only criteria was to have strong political connections. FIA has always remained a choice of many corrupt government officials to mint more money through corrupt practices because of agency’ involvement in investigation of high profile cases. Expressing his displeasure on recent incident of entry of two foreign girls in Pakistan through Islamabad airport, the minister said that immigration counter on airports reflect an image of a country and he would not allow anyone to tarnish the image of Pakistan.
