Plea filed to summon Musharraf, Aziz
 
 
 






ISLAMABAD - The one-member Judicial Commission (JC) constituted by the Supreme Court to probe into the incident of Lal Mosque has recorded statements of 14 witnesses on Tuesday.
The commission headed by a judge of Federal Shariat Court (FSC) Justice Shahzado Sheikh recorded statements. On the occasion a witness Joint Secretary of Rawalpindi High Court Bar Zakiullah Qureshi Advocate recording his statement was of the view that the incident of Lal Mosque is the result of criminal negligence of Islamabad police, adding that the presence of heavy weapons and ammunition in the capital city reveals the character of the Islamabad police. Another witness Fida Hussain told the commission that on July 03, 2007 a bullet coming from school hit a journalist and he died on the spot.
It is worth mentioning that 294 people got registered themselves with the judicial commission for recording their statements and 117 witnesses including the Imam of Lal Mosque Maulana Abdul-Aziz and his wife Umme-Hassan have recorded their statements so far. The commission after completing registration processes on December 30, started recording the statements from December 31.
Meanwhile, Advocate Tariq Asad has filed an application before the commission stating that the JC should summon former dictator President Pervez Musharraf and prime minister Shaukat Aziz because they ordered for brutal killings of the innocent male and female students of Lal Mosque as well as Jamia Hafsa.
It also has been said in the application that the chief of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, former State Minister Tariq Azeem, Former Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Ijaz-ul-Haq, former Federal Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani, former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao, former Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, former chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, former federal minister Faisal Saleh Hayat, the former Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Iqbal Cheema, former Secretary Interior Syed Kamal Shah, former IG Islamabad Iftikhar Ahmed, former DC Islamabad Chaudhry Mohammad Ali, Former SSP Islamabad Captain (r) Zafar, former Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Khalid Peryez, former DIG Islamabad Shahid Nadeem Baloch, former Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari, former Corps Commander Rawalpindi General Tariq Majid, former Director Mufti Abdul Rabbani, Maulana Saleem Ullah Khan, Dr Adil Khan, Dr Aqil Khan, Maulana Mufti Rafi Usmani, Maulana Qari Haneef Jalandhary, Maulana Mufti Mohammad Naeem, Maulana Qazi Abdul Rasheed, Maulana Tariq Jameel, Maulana Zahid alrsdy, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil, Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz, Maulana Zahoor Alvi, Maulana Aziz ur Rehman Hazarvi, Maulana Nazir Ahmad Farooqi, Maulana Abdul Karim, Maulana Sharif Hazarvi, Qari Sohail Abbas, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Samia Raheel Qazi also should be summoned for recording their statements.
The applicant also requested the commission to summon office-bearers of Wafaq-ul Madaris Al Arabiya Pakistan for recording the statement because they also have played role in the Lal Mosque operation.
Tariq also requested the commission for summoning senior anchorpersons to find the facts, adding that JC should summon the two former judges of Supreme Court accusing them that they had also assisted for operation. The statements of these persons would assist to clear the facts about the incident, he added.
