SC seeks report about MPs with dual nationality





ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Secretaries National Assembly and Senate to submit comprehensive report regarding the parliamentarians who hold dual nationalities.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also reissued notices to two Pakistan People’s Party leaders Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Farah Naaz Isphani for not submitting reply on the matter of dual nationalities. The Chief Justice said: “When there is no rebuttal then what presumptions could draw.” During the hearing, the court has stopped the Deputy Attorney general for Pakistan to plead the case of Rehman Malik.
MNA Iftikhar Nazeer challenged the allegations of his holding dual nationality while MNA Chaudhry Zahid Iqbal’s lawyer Mian Rauf requested the court to grant him some time to prepare the reply regarding the case. The court adjourned the hearing till May 10.
