ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to let the political parties resolve the ongoing political deadlock.
Advocate Sardar Abdul Raziq Khan Monday submitted the PML-Q reply in the apex court, in a petition filed by Lahore High Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi Bench, requesting that all the political parties be directed to resolve the current political issue within the parameters of the Constitution.
The PML-Q contended that right to hold protest is conferred upon every citizen as a fundamental right under Article 16 of the Constitution, adding that similarly, freedom of movement, freedom of association and freedom of speech have also been recognized as fundamental rights under Articles 15, 16,17 and 19 of the Constitution.
The PML-Q contended that in the name of democracy, a worst kind of dictatorship of Sharif family has been established in the country. It added that the PML-Q leadership is also making efforts to settle the current political dispute within the parameters of the Constitution.
The reply says that the current political situation and protest has cropped up in the backdrop of certain political issues and massacre of innocent people in Model Town, Lahore.
He added that the election 2013 happens to be most disputed elections in the history of the country, wherein almost every political party has raised the allegations of missive and institutional rigging in one way or the other, therefore, there is a big question mark upon the validity of national and provincial assemblies.
“Even after the elections, the government and its members are involved in corruption, mismanagement and misgovernance. National interests, especially relating to the defence and security of Pakistan are being compromised and national security institutions like armed forces are being maligned,” he added.
The reply says that none of the public welfare issues such as price hike, loadshedding, unemployment and other important issues is being addressed, therefore, all these circumstances have compelled the people to come out of their houses and launch a long march.
The PML-Q has given a commitment for the supremacy of constitution, rule of law and democracy in light of ideology of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
