Paul condemns Lahore incident





ISLAMABAD – Dr Paul Bhatti Minister In-charge for the Ministry of National Harmony here on Saturday strongly condemned the incident of arson attacks at houses in Joseph colony in Badami Bagh, Lahore, after a person of Christian community was accused of committing blasphemy.
The minister said that a certain mindset was bent upon creating wedge between different communities of this country and there was a strong need for collective efforts and consciousness to counter such intentions. The minister also called upon the Punjab Government to carry out a transparent investigation into the incident to determine the facts.
He also said that the displaced residents of the colony should be provided immediate relief and people should not be allowed to take law into their own hands. Dr Bhatti also stated that the culprits behind the regrettable incident of torching houses in the colony should be apprehended and brought to justice after an indiscrimination probe into the matter.
Talking to media persons here Dr Paul also said that there was a strong need to promote national harmony and national inter-faith dialogue to control the growing intolerance in the country.
