Capital to be no-entry zone for heavy traffic

Pak Day parade

Islamabad - Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) would bar entry of heavy traffic into Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan Day (March 23rd) military parade so as to assist other authorities in providing foolproof security and ensure hassle-free arrangements for the parade near Faizabad.
SSP Traffic police Islamabad, Malik Matloob Ahmed, said this on Monday while briefing media persons during a ceremony held here at ITP headquarters in connection with distribution of relief package to the families of ITP martyrs. He said that ITP would set up three-tier checkpoints around the federal capital and no heavy traffic would be allowed entry into Islamabad for 12 hours (12:00am to 12:00pm) on March 23. Heavy traffic would be stopped in patches at different locations including Tarnol, Rawat, Barakahu and Nilore. However, light traffic vehicles would be allowed entry into Islamabad but their access to the Parade Avenue would be restricted immediately before Faizabad, Zero Point and Kashmir Chowk. “Only the persons having invitation cards would be allowed to proceed towards the parade avenue on the day of March 23”, he added.
On the occasion, the families of ITP martyrs were given Rs 50,000 cheques each. Chairman Pakistan Baitul Maal, Barrister Abid Waheed who was also present on the occasion, promised lifetime assistance to the families of the martyrs.
