CDA director removed on graft charges

Islamabad - Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal has removed Deputy Director Land and Rehabilitation, Amir Shehzad, from his office on corruption charges, sources in the Capital Development Authority told The Nation on Sunday.
They said the officer was allegedly involved in tampering CDA land record and illegal allotments to the affectees of some sectors. “Shehzad resisted when he was asked to leave the charge; however, security officials of the CDA forced him out of the office,” the sources said. The chairman initiated action against the officer in the light of complaints and media reports some ten days back. The sources said the officer in connivance with some other officials of the authority had illegally allotted over 200 plots to the affectees of I-14 and E-12 sectors. Some affectees were allotted two plots which caused heavy loss to the national exchequer, they added.
Member Administration CDA Amir Ali Ahmad and DG Land Nadeem Abro had recommended inquiry into the alleged corruption of the officer and others and subsequently the NAB and FIA had started probe into the alleged involvement of the officer and his accomplices in illegal allotment of plots and other corruption charges.
