RMS students, staff receive first aid training

Islamabad (PR) - Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) organised first aid training for the students and staff of Roots Millennium Schools (RMS) here at RCI Millennium Campus, I-9/3, followed by PRCS certificate distribution ceremony amongst the volunteer students, inspirational talk by Chairman PRCS Dr Saeed Elahi and Chief Executive RMS Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq (TI) and donation by the students for the IDPs and flood affectees to the PRCS chairman.
Roots Millennium Schools (RMS) has recently signed an MOU with PRCS to promote volunteerism and community work. The training was attended by more than 100 students and staff members where they were taught how to save lives in an emergency situation. The PRCS emergency response service has come to play a crucial role in saving lives. The service provided throughout most of the country uses fully equipped ambulances staffed by paramedical assistants and first-aid workers.
Training coordinator of PRCS Dr Amna said that first aid training course in Millennium Schools is organised to learn simple skills which could make all the difference if an emergency happened. She further said that training course took just a few hours but it gave participants the knowledge and confidence to become lifesavers if a colleague, friend or family member fell ill or was injured, and they were called upon to help.
The chairman PRCS praised the contribution of Roots Millennium Schools towards the volunteerism and community work and offered students and staff to be a part of upcoming volunteer projects to strengthen this relationship.
Chief Executive RMS Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq (TI) said, “The community involvement programme at RMS in collaboration with PRCS will provide students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities which will contribute to the community. It aims to nurture a sense of social responsibility and help students understand that everyone can play a part in bettering the community. Our aim is to encourage our students for long-term involvement in community service. PRCS has provided us proper structure, guidance and supervision so as to engage our students. To sustain volunteerism beyond the school years, we encouraged all our campuses to forge long-term partnerships with community organisations like PRCS to deepen the quality of the volunteerism experience for our students and to allow for continuity of contribution beyond the schooling years.”
