COAS offers training to Afghan forces in Pakistan

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani met the visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai here on Thursday and offered training to Afghan forces in Pakistan. According to official sources, the Army Chief discussed the current security situation of the region with the Afghan President. The meeting also discussed the menaces of terrorism and extremism, border issues between the two countries, Helmand Operation while the new strategy of allied countries on Afghanistan was also came under discussion. Sources further told that the Army Chief offered the Afghan President of providing training by Pakistani to Afghan Forces in Pakistani institutions. He also stressed on increasing cooperation between two countries in different setors. The Afghan President during the meeting with COAS lauded the sacrifices rendered by Pakistani troops for elimination of terrorism, saying Afghanistan is interested in training to Afghan Army by Pakistan Army and the modalities in this regard would be finalised soon. Hamid Karzai categorically stated that interests of Pakistan and Afghanistan are interlinked and peace and stability in Afghanistan is vital for Pakistan and the entire region.
