Sports, cultural week at Wah varsity concludes

wah cantt - Annual Sports and Cultural Week 2016 of University of Wah concluded yesterday. The competitions organised included Qirat, Naat, essay writing (English and Urdu), declamation (English and Urdu), drama, bait bazi and a number of sports competitions. Students and faculty members actively participated in all events.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at the university auditorium to honour the achievements of successful students. Vice Chancellor University of Wah, Prof Dr Khaliqur Rehman Shad was the chief guest on this occasion. Medals were awarded to the winners.  The Qirat contest was won by Muhammad Faizan from department of mathematics, while Mohsin Abbas and Muhammad Inzamam from department of physics stood first in contests of Naat and English essay writing respectively. Urdu essay writing competition was won by Iqra Razzaq from department of chemistry. English declamation contest was won by Noor-ul-Ain from department of biosciences while Abu Bakar bin Khitab of department of chemistry stood first in Urdu declamation contest. Drama contest was won by the faculty of engineering while faculty of basic sciences won Bait Bazi competition.

In sports competitions, the boys’ teams of department of computer sciences won the competitions of cricket, volley ball, table tennis and tug of war. Department of management sciences won the badminton while department of chemistry was the winner of basketball.

In the competitions for girls, department of physics won the volley ball while department of biosciences was winner of badminton and table tennis. The faculty won the cricket match from the Admin. In athletics, students of department of computer sciences won three competitions and student of department of chemistry was winner of one competition. Department of mathematics came up as an emerging department in annual sports week. Department of computer sciences was awarded the general trophy.
