FDE employees await job regularisation

ISLAMABAD - Hundreds of employees both teaching and non-teaching staff working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) are still waiting for the regularisation of their services.
The decision of regularisation of all government employees was taken by the government in the year 2010 and many departments regularised their employees but teachers community is still deprived of their legitimate right.
Talking to APP, an official of Devolution Cell informed that
three lists of regularizing the FDE run institute employees were approved from the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development. The first list carried 1100 employees and was approved in August last year and the second and third list carried 500 employees each and approved in the start and end of December respectively.
The cabinet committee has approved regularising these employees but the FDE said there were no seats and the file is pending for creation of posts, the official said. The official said that the employees who have been serving for years are denied of their rights and the directorate is appointing new ones.
“It is very difficult for the teachers working on daily wages and contract basis to survive in the prevailing price hike situation. We are anxiously awaiting for regularisation of our services when the employees of other public departments are regularised” Fozia Habib, a teacher at local college said.
“Job security matters a lot for those who have to run their households in the present circumstances when prices of commodities are becoming out of reach for a common man”, she added.
Umer Shah, another teacher at a local college said “he has been working in the model college for the last many years on daily wages and getting a meager amount as salary which is not sufficient to meet his living expenses what to talk about his dependents.
Director Model Colleges, FDE, Tariq Masood informed that the file of regularization of these employees is still under process. FDE has played its role and forwarded the lists to the relevant authority in time so that the employees are given their right of regularisation of their services, he said.
