RAWALPINDI - Punjab Emergency Service (PES) Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi has started School Safety Programme-2013 to sensitise students and teachers at grassroots level about professional approach and their role in case of emergency or disaster.
The community Training Wing, Rescue 1122, under supervision of Ms Deeba Shahnaz Akhter has initiated this educational programme for saving lives by changing minds of community for Safety Culture, informed Rescue 1122 spokesman here on Friday.
In this regards in first phase training of trainers have been conducted to have sufficient teams for conducting this training programme and a consultation workshop has been organised at Community Training Centre (CTC) Rawalpindi to finalise the contents of one day session and executing process of School Safety Program-2013, he said adding that identification of building hazards with the help of building information safety check list.
The education department has been contacted to get lists of schools and focal persons from schools to execute this program in professional manners.
The twelve different schools on every Saturday will be covered and disseminate knowledge about emergencies, emergency numbers, importance of Golden hour and emergency management.
These trainers would also conduct survey of schools buildings along with concerned school staff to identify building safety standards and hazards, vulnerabilities and capacities assessment for making and effective strategy for involved Risk Reduction, he added.
The Spokesperson, Rescue 1122 said that Rawalpindi Community Training Wing has target to covered more then 500 Schools in the year of 2013 and hazards of school buildings will also be identified for further safety measures by the concerned authorities.
