ISLAMABAD – The residents of several sectors of the capital have been facing water shortage since last week and the scorching heat is also adding to their woes.
According to a survey conducted by this agency, the sectors that are facing water shortage include G-6 G-10/1,G-11/1,I-10 and I-9.
Water shortage and continuous power cuts have doubled the troubles of residents of these sectors who are already upset with the unprecedented rise in the mercury level.
“In the scorching heat, one direly wishes to take shower but it makes him mad when he finds no water available,” said a resident of G-11/1, who was very angry with Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and Capital Development Authority (CDA). He said despite several complaints to the CDA, there was no response from the authority. While a resident of sector I-10/2, talking to this agency, opined that due to poor planning, various houses in metropolis are not getting appropriate supply of water and the CDA should take step in this regard.
On the other hand, officials in the civic agency also blame the Iesco for their inability to meet with the public demands.
The authority was trying best to cope with the situation but 10-hours long power outage was the major obstacle in its way, said an official of the CDA. “In the G and I series of sectors, water is supplied from tube-wells and pumping stations, which required regular supply of electricity,” the official added.
He appealed to the public to avoid misuse of water and not to waste it by watering gardens and servicing cars and to cooperate with the authority during the summer season.
Meanwhile, the residents also demanded of the CDA to ensure water supply for easing their sufferings.
