PAC body shows displeasure over poor management in PSO
 
 
 

ISLAMABAD - An implementation committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has shown its displeasure over the poor management and governance in Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and ordered the authorities to bring strict monitoring system to reduce the oil theft.
The committee also directed the authorities to apply the new laws for oil theft on old cases and register fresh cases against the culprits.
It was decided during the meeting of PAC implementation committee that held in the chair of Rana Afzal in the Parliament House on Friday.
The audit officials revealed that 10,000 litres of petrol had been stolen during transportation to Jagot Oil Depot and no record was available regarding this issue.
The officials told the committee that a special representative had been deputed on Jagot Oil Depot and a monitoring system was being introduced to track the oil tankers.
The committee showed its concerns over the loss of Rs 1 million oil on daily basis in PSO during the transportation of oil to Jagot Depot. The committee ordered the officials to form a special committee to look into the matter and submit a report.
The committee was surprised to know that there was no record available with the ministry of petroleum and its 17 allied departments including PSO form the year 1996 of the Gilgit-Baltistan area.
Secretary Petroleum Abid Saeed assured the committee to take necessary action against the responsible ones within one month.
The audit officials told the committee that SNGPL had lost Rs 20 million due to non-recovery from a private industry. The lady who was the owner of the company has disappeared and now the matter is in the court.
The committee ordered the officials concerned to submit a detailed report on the issue till 24th July.
