Real Estate tycoon Malik Riaz on Tuesday submitted his official response in the Arsalan Iftikhar suo motu case and accused the chief justice’s son of accepting kickbacks and bribes worth over Rs340 million from him. Malik Riaz’s counsel, Zahid Bukhari submitted the documented statement of Malik Riaz in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He further alleged that the money was used to fund Arsalan’s two separate foreign trips. The statement submitted by Riaz said that Arsalan had assured him to be of assistance in different cases against Bahria Town pending in the courts. He claimed that he possessed ample evidence against the transactions that took place between himself and Arsalan. Malik Riaz also mentioned that he did not get any relief in spite of Dr. Arsalan’s statements. He said Arsalan had blackmailed him and his son-in-law for a long time. He further alleged that Arsalan was accompanied by a woman on his trip to Monte Carlo. He claims to have bought the ticket for the woman whose identity Arsalan did not reveal at the time. Riaz alleged that he paid over rupees 2500,000 for the apartment Arsalan rented in Monte Carlo and over rupees 3400,000 for rental cars. Three foreign tours of Dr. Arsalan’s family with full details of travel and stay have been mentioned in the documents. Dr. Arsalan’s family had a first foreign tour of London and the total expenditure incurred were over Rs 8 million. The second London tour had expenses of Rs 5.94 million. Moreover, the documents also stated that Dr. Arsalan had been paid cash of over Rs 320 in different installments. Malik Riaz further said in the documents that there is no involvement of President, Prime Minister, any politician, or any agency in this matter. Malik Riaz also expressed his respect for Supreme Court and all of its judges in the documents. He also raised legal objections on the case’s hearing mentioning that it’s illegal for SC to take suo moto notice. Malik Riaz also said that Dr. Arsalan committed fraud and did corruption which is against NAB Law. Earlier, Bahria Town Chief Executive Ali Riaz has submitted his statement to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Arsalan Iftikhar case. It is said in the statement that the Bahria Town has nothing to do with the allegations against Arsalan Iftikhar Chaudhry case. He distanced himself from the allegations of a deal between CJ’s son and Malik Riaz, ex chairman of Bahria Town. The statement was submitted through his lawyer Ali Zafar advocate here on Tuesday, submitting that the shares of Malik Riaz had been transferred to Mrs Bina Riaz and Ali Riaz was made chief executive of the Bahria Town in July 2008. He said that allegations by Hamid Mir, Shaheen Sehbai and Karman Khan’s allegations against Bahria Town were not right. Ali Riaz Malik said the Bahria Town was a corporate institution and had paid its taxes and duties.
