Islamabad - Awareness and support for girls education increased in Swat after Malala’s struggle for education got international acclamation, as  Yousafzai demonstrated an exemplary courage and conviction so unequivocally for the cause of education, specifically girls education.
Shazia Ramzan and Kainat Riaz, friends of Malala Yousafzai who were also shot when Malala was attacked in 2012, remarked this during an event in Islamabad on Friday.
To pay tribute to Malala and her friends for their unmatched courage and struggle for right to education and celebrate the International Human Rights Day 2014, the Right to Education (RTE) team at Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) along with all alliance members held the event.
Both Shazia and Kainat pledged to keep raising their voice so that every child in Pakistan and around the world goes to school without fear of being discriminated on the basis of gender, age, class and social standing.
“Malala is the epitome of the global stand of right to education, a child who stands so tall at 17 years of age,” said Bela Raza Jamil, head of ITA.
Her struggle against the suppression of children, girls and young people and her fight for education for all children globally is endemic. Her dedication for the cause and resolve against the violence by a small group of Taliban shook the world internationally, making her the champion of all and Pakistan’s pride. Malala is a true icon for all the youth activists and indeed for the Education Youth Ambassadors (EYAs) as well, she said.
The event celebrated Malala’s pioneering efforts, sacrifice and global voice for education of 58 million children still out of school in the global arena.
Malala Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize award on Wednesday last. The Nobel committee described her as “champion of peace”. Yousafzai said she was there to stand up for the rights of forgotten and frightened children, and raise their voice rather than pity them.
