SLAMABAD  – Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has registered about 20,000 employees under the government’s scheme to provide houses to government servants.
Talking to APP, Director Finance FGEHF Ahmed Taimoor Nasir said on Thursday that membership drive was initiated with the prime objective to provide housing units to government employees under government’s ambitious plan.
He said under the scheme, every registered employee would get an opportunity to have a house in the Federal Capital. “A total of 5,486 plots have been allotted to the incumbent and retired employees of government and other people by FGEHF in sector G-14 Islamabad during the last three years,” Nasir said and added that 279 plots have been allotted to retired government employees and 4,018 plots to employees of federal ministries and attached departments and employees of judiciary.
He said that 458 plots have been allotted to employees of autonomous and semi autonomous government and public sector organizations while 329 plots have been allotted to the employees of the eligible professionals of constitutional bodies as per allocated quota and 112 plots have been allotted to widows of those employees who died during service.
To a question he said that 183 plots have been allotted to journalists and 48 plots have been allotted to the disabled while 59 plots have been allotted to extremely hardship cases. He said that 1,189 apartments had been constructed by the Foundation  in Islamabad during the last three years and 828 apartments had already been handed over to the allottees in Housing Scheme phase-V.
He said that ground plus 14 storey apartments in Sector G-13, as applications are invited from employees and general public and is still under process and amount receipt from government employees against the allotment of D & E type apartments is Rs 874.15 million and total expenses against these projects are Rs 1,320.66 million.
 He said the difference in revenue and expenditure is due to the subsidy in sale price offered to government employees and the loss is being covered by the profit obtained from the flats sold to general public.
