Rawalpindi - Rawat police claimed to have taken into custody the main accused in petrol pump’s cashier murder case that happened some five months ago.
The investigators of Police Station Rawat detained one Khalid Mehmood out of three accused nominated in Saeed Ahmed’s assassination case. The other accused included Khawar Mehmood, son of detained Khalid Mehmood who is owner of petrol pump, and Muhammad Nawaz. A murder case number 400/14 was filed with the Police Station Rawat.
However, police were not showing his arrest of the accused officially owing to delay in issuance of forensic lab report to be issued from Lahore. SHO Police Station Rawat Malik Asif Nawaz, when contacted, said that the main accused of murder case was taken into custody but his official arrest was not shown as he (SHO) had summon the applicant to arrange a meeting with the killer. “I am trying to settle the dispute by sitting both parties in front of each others. This will be better if the murder case solved through talks,” SHO said in response to a query.
On the other hand, RPO took notice of the appeal of widow and summoned the case record. The RPO directed the SHO to obtain forensic lab report from Lahore but he failed to implement the RPO’s orders so far. Inspector Shujat, in-charge RPO Complaint Cell, said that SHO did not produce lab report before the RPO so far. “The SHO has been directed to get the forensic report and table before him on May 20,” he added.
Saeed Ahmed was shot dead after subjecting to severe torture at a petrol pump in November 2014 allegedly by the owners of pump on account of corruption. Tehzim Akhter, widow of the deceased had appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take notice of the murder of his husband, accusing the Rawat police of portraying the killing as a suicide case.
